The well-known standardized test known as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is used to assess non-native speakers of English's language proficiency. It is widely accepted by hundreds of institutions worldwide and is used for both academic and immigration purposes.
There will be 40 questions carrying one mark each.
There will be no negative marking.
It will be different for general and academic candidates, unlike listening and speaking.
Questions are in the increasing order of difficulty.

There will be four sections each containing 10 questions
Section two and four would be a monologue, (a lecture).
In section one and three there would be a conversation between two or three people (a teacher discussing a problem).

Formal: Formal when sender is unknown (i.e. editor of a newspaper company)
Semi-formal: When you know the person, but cannot call him/her by first name.(i.e. your boss)
